Secretary
Destinie Baker is a native of Palm Beach County. After graduating from Cardinal Newman High School in 1997, she attended Florida State University where she was awarded the Minority Participation in Legal Education Scholarship for her academic achievement. Additionally, she is the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award and was inducted into the W.E.B. Du Bois Honor Society. While at FSU, she served The Honorable Nikki Clark as an intern and raised over $10,000 for the University in various fundraising drives. Ms. Baker graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Ms. Baker earned her law degree from The University of Florida Levin College of Law where she was awarded the Virgil Hawkins Stipend. She served as Student Representative for the John Marshall Bar Association, Secretary for the Law College Council, Ambassador for the University of Florida, Member of the Student Recruitment Team, Member of the Black Law Students Association and Assisted Students with Disabilities. At age 24, Ms. Baker was the youngest person in her graduating class. Ms. Baker began serving as a Prosecutor for the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office in February of 2005. She has handled over 40 jury trials, successfully prosecuting crimes ranging from Driving Under the Influence to First Degree Felonies punishable by life in prison. An active member of the community, Ms. Baker was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Friends of Abused Children, Inc. Friends provides funding for services to children who are under state supervision after being adjudicated dependent by the courts due to abandonment, physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Additionally, she volunteers with Youth Court, Youth Outreach Day, Darcy Hall of Life Care Assisted Living Facility and The Honorable E. Earle Zehmer Memorial Mock Trial Competition. She is also an active member of the West Palm Beach Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the West Palm Beach Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. As a member of the F. Malcolm Cunningham, Sr. Bar Association, Ms. Baker has previously served a term as secretary from 2005 thru 2006. Last year, she served as Chairperson of the 7th Annual William Holland Scholarship Luncheon. Ms. Baker looks forward to serving a second term as secretary for the Bar Association.
